Nylon Spiral Wrap Polyethylene Spiral Wrap Teflon PTFE

Spiral wrap sleeving is a widely used material for bundling and organizing cables that are already constructed. Whether they are installed in a panel, wall or ceiling. Spiral wrap tubing can be installed easily even in tight quarters. Do you have a large 96 pin connector already on a harness, but you need to sleeve the harness? Don't want to take off the connector? Spiral wrap may be the answer. We carry 3 different varieties (Polyethylene, Nylon 6, Teflon PTFE), covering a wide temperature range.

Polyethylene Spiral Wrap Tubing

Polyethylene is ideal for general applications. It is a low cost material that is highly abrasion resistant and is unaffected by most solvents. Our Polyethylene spiral wrap is available in many different colors, including: UV Resistant Black, Natural, Red, White, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, Brown, Gray, Neon Orange, Neon Pink, Neon Green, and Neon Yellow. All of our Neon colors are UV reactive (i.e. they fluoresce under UV light). If a specific color is not listed under the size you want, please feel free to call us for availability.

Properties:

  • Continuous operating temperature -76°F to 190°F (-60°C to 88°C)
  • Abrasion resistance - good
  • Specific gravity (ASTM D792-66) = 0.92 (floats in water)
  • Highly solvent resistant up to 122°F (50°C)
  • Highly acid resistant
  • Highly Alkaline resistant
  • Very little moisture absorption (0.014%)
  • Mil-I-631D, Mil-P-21922A approved

Note: some resellers of this product will list an unrealistic "maximum bundle size". This is only practical for teflon, where cost is a major factor in the use of it. Instead, we have listed suggested bundle sizes. These are approximate numbers, and are based on our personal experiences with this product.

Nylon 6 Spiral Wrap Tubing

Made from Nylon 6, spiral wrap is a self extinguishing material that does not emit any toxic or irritating byproducts. It is well suited for use under high temperatures and brief exposure to open flame. It can be used in enclosed environments (unlike Polyethylene), and is lightweight and highly abrasion resistant. Our Nylon spiral wrap is available in Natural, and weather resistant Black (for use outdoors).

Properties:

  • Continuous operating temperature -40°F to 250°F (-40°C to 121°C)
  • Abrasion resistance - very good (superior to polyethylene)
  • Specific gravity (ASTM D792-66) = 1.14 (sinks in water)
  • Highly solvent resistant
  • Degrades in strong Acids
  • Highly Alkaline resistant
  • 1.5% moisture absorption
  • Self Extinguishing
  • MIL M-20693B Type I, MIL M-22096A LP 410A, MIL M-19098 approved

PTFE (Teflon) Spiral Wrap Tubing

Made from Poly-tetra-fluoroethylene, spiral wrap is a flame retardant (UL VW-1 and UL 94V0) material that does not emit any toxic or irritating byproducts. It is well suited for use under high temperatures and long term exposure to open flame. It can be used in enclosed environments (unlike Polyethylene), and is lightweight and high abrasion resistant. Our PTFE spiral wrap is available in Natural.

Properties:

  • Continuous operating temperature -450°F to 500°F (-268°C to 260°C)
  • Abrasion resistance - very good (comparable to Nylon, superior to polyethylene)
  • Specific gravity (ASTM D792-66) = 2.1
  • Highly solvent resistant (no material is better)
  • Highly resistant to virtually any chemical, especially solvents, strong Acids, strong alkaline environments.
  • Highly Alkaline resistant
  • Extremely low moisture absorption (0.05%)
  • Non-flammable (meets UL VW-1 and UL 94V0 flame tests)
  • Suitable for use in plenum environments.
  • AMS 365 1C, AMS 3653C, AMS 3654, AMS 3655, ASTM D3295
  • MIL I-22129C, P-22296B, MIL T-47287A Type I, AS 1294 approved
